Front-end Developer (Contract Position)

About the Job

Tercio looks for exceptional talented individuals who are excited about in joining a high technology, customer-focused start-up. You will work with a team of developers and analysts that is responsible for all aspects of the product lifecycle, from interacting with customers and understanding their requirements to software development, testing, and delivery. As our products are embedded in production planning systems, all team members help resolve bugs and technical issues as they arise and communicate with clients.

In this project-based contract opportunity, you will help develop the general user interface (and related Servlets) of our flagship scheduling platform. This interface will allow non-developers to define custom scheduling problems, which would get sent to our scheduling engine for optimization. Iterations of the product will be delivered to several clients over an anticipated 1 year project duration.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Operations Research or related field
  • 2+ years experience with HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery
  • 2+ years oriented programming experience with Java, C++, or similar language
  • Ability to test features, identify issues, perform a root cause analysis, debug and fix existing code
  • Independent worker with demonstrated ability to self-manage and remain organized across multiple projects and deadlines
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as team player, communicator, and creative problem solver
  • Someone conscientious and willing to roll up their sleeves to help the team get the job done

Desirable Attributes:

  • 2+ years of post-collegiate experience developing commercial products on a software team, including test and release processes
  • Experience with Eclipse, Git, MySQL
  • Understanding of client/server and web services architectures
  • Knowledge of industrial automation platforms such as MRP and Manufacturing Execution Systems

Front-end Developer Intern (Summer)

About the Job

We are looking for exceptionally talented students who are excited about getting involved in the early growth of a software start-up. As a front-end development intern, you will help build user interfaces for software that we deliver to our clients, which include Fortune 100 companies. Your duties will include: debugging existing UI screens, helping build new screens from mock-ups, user testing, and modifying backend Java code to accommodate UI changes.
You may occasionally help with administrative tasks as needed such as updating our WordPress site, coordinating meetings, etc. Given that we are a small start-up, you will likely have chances to pitch in with other software and project-related duties as needs arise. Some example of this would be to assist with simulation programming, optimization algorithms, and debugging existing projects.
We are located in the prestigious Cambridge Innovation Center. You will also have access to all the free coffee, tea, fizzy water, and snack food (fruit, yogurt, hummus, string-cheese, M&M’s, chips, etc.) you want.

Required Qualifications:

  • Working towards a BS or MS in Computer Science, Software Eng., Digital Media or related field
  • 2+ years experience with HTML, CSS, Javascript, and jQuery
  • Experience coding browser-based user interfaces

Software Engineer Intern (Summer)

About the Job

We are looking for exceptionally talented students who are excited about getting involved in the early growth of a software start-up. As a software engineer you will assist us in 1) extending our general algorithms as well as 2) develop system-specific logic for our client deliverables. You will also help ensure the quality of your deliverables through implementing unit test suites while supporting the testing efforts of other developers. Given that we are a small start-up, you will likely have chances to pitch in with other software and project-related duties as needs arise.

Hourly pay will be based on your experience. We are located in the Cambridge Innovation Center, right near the Kendall T-stop. You’ll have access to all the free coffee, fizzy water, and snack food (cereal, fruit, yogurt, string-cheese, M&M’s, chips, etc.) that you want.

Required Qualifications:

  • Working towards a BS or MS in Computer Science, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Software Engineering or related field
  • 2+ years Object Oriented programming experience with C++ and/or Java
  • Experience with Eclipse, Git, and MySQL
  • Ability to test features, identify issues, perform a root cause analysis, and help debug existing code
  • Independent worker with demonstrated ability to self-manage and follow through on tasks
  • Responsible, meticulous, and passionate about well-organized code
  • Someone conscientious and willing to roll up their sleeves to help the team get the job done

Desirable Attributes:

  • Prior software development/testing experience in a commercial setting
  • Experience with Junit, Mockito, or similar testing package
  • Ability to remain organized across multiple projects and deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, effective team player, creative problem solver
  • Understanding of client/server and web services architectures
  • Experience or coursework in algorithms and operations research modeling
